Agenda ideas for our next Nordic Braille meeting 9-10th October. in Finland
Dear all. The time For our next Nordic meeting is rapidly approaching. We have the following items which we would like to suggest. 1. Hopefully last years working group regarding Braille and STEM education will have some points to share during the meeting, as they have planned a workshop before the Nordic meeting commences. 2. As you may remember Danish Braille code has undergone a large revision, and as a consequence we have at the various organisations that provide Braille Literacy courses, revised our instruction materials. We would like to share some of the various thoughts and ideas that have been put into this work, in regards to teaching of Braille for Adults. 3. We would further like to have a discussion regarding how to conduct remote teaching of Braille. As part of our planning of the visit to Finland, we would like, as soon as at all possible to know the start time of our meeting on the 9th. Also we plan to leave on the 10th in the late afternoon. We most likely will arrive on the 8th of October in the late afternoon or early evening conditional to flight schedule and availability. Best regards, Jesper. I forgot the last item that we would liketo propose, which is a demonstration of 3D printed materials which can be used in the education of especially Children. It is the Synscenter Refsnæs here in Denmark that caters tochildren that hasexperimented with various items, e.g. used in Music and various otherCorses.

Dear All.
Here is what we probably will settle on:
1. Arrival in Helsinki from 15.30 - 19.30, so that we can start as early as possible.
2.
Daparture on the 10th at 17:00 from Helsinki Airport.
Accommodation:
At least the part of the contingent from DaB, will stay at Klaus K, unless Hotel Rantapuisto which is closer to the IRIS center, where the meeting Venue is still held, becomes available?
When do you plan to sent out further information.
As we have not received any further indication as for start and finishing time, we hope that the above does not cause changes to the program.
We look forward to receiving the program and other materials as soon as possible.
Best regards, Jesper.

Hello Jesper and all!
Thank you all for your messages and information and I am sorry for the delay to keep you updated!
The meeting will take place at IIRIS centre. We were looking for all the possibilities, and decided to keep the dinner at Klaus K. There is a short walk from the hotel to Central Railway Station where you can take metro straight to the Itäkeskus. From there you have a short walk to IIRIS. If needed, we can arrange transportation from the hotel to IIRIS, and there will also be some from the Finnish committee to accommodate at Klaus K who can guide you. Unfortunately there are not so many hotels at a reasonable distance. I am sorry for the inconvenience!
I hope I can send you the draft program soon. Is it OK if we start on the 9th October at 10 am and end the meeting on 10th October around 2.15-2.30 pm.
Best regards,
Marjo

Dear Marjo
At least for us, that would work just fine, as we have a flight to catch at 17:00 being at the airport around 15:00 is what we are aiming for. Thus, a 2:15 /30 finnish is perfect.
And good to know that we can take metro from the hotel to within walking distance to Iris.
BR. Jesper.

Hello Marjo,
Im sorry its a bit late, but here is finally the requested information
from Norway.
We have three presentations this year. The titles with estimated durations
are as follows:
* The teaching material Learning braille SHORT AND SWEET. A
presentation of our revision work. Duration 20 min.
* Fonts for presenting braille to sighted people. Duration 10 min.
* The hymn book for everyone - a project aiming to enable visually
impaired to take part in the singing of hymns in church. Duration 20 min.
Of course, we can also say something short about the music braille put into
production in Norway this year, but we dont need much time for that. Five
or ten minutes will do.
Participants
The following eight persons, all from the Norwegian Braille Authority, will
participate physically from Norway:
Nina Tveter
Astrid Kristin Vik
Lars Bjørndal
Rolf Arne Mellem
Ida Sødahl Utne
Kari Rudjord
Hans Anton Ålien
Tanita Thomassen
We will arrive in the evening of October 8th, and we are leaving on an
aeroplane at 16:10 on the 10th. To be in time for our flight I think we will
have to leave the Iris Centre at 14:00. We are sorry for that, but there are
not that many flights to choose from.
We are looking forward to seeing you!
Best regards,
Nina Tveter
