When is the Nordic meeting 2023 going to take place?
Dear Icelandic Braille Committee, Thank you so much for inviting us to the Nordic meeting 2023. We in The Norwegian Braille Authority are looking very forward to it, but to be able to take part, we need to know by now when it is going to take place, since our calendars for the autumn season is about to be filled up. We do hope you may give us an answer in a few days. With my best wishes for the further planning of the event, Nina Tveter Fra: Hjalti Hynninen <hjalti.hynninen@gmail.com <mailto:hjalti.hynninen@gmail.com> > Sendt: tirsdag 11. april 2023 22:01 Til: nordicbraille@list.punktskriftutvalget.no <mailto:nordicbraille@list.punktskriftutvalget.no> Emne: [Nordicbraille] Nordic meeting 2023 Dear Nordic colleges. The Icelandic and Finnish braille committees have been in contact and reached a consensus about hosting responsibilities for the Nordic meetings in 2023 and 2024. The Nordic meeting 2023 will take place in Reykjavík and hosted by the Icelandic Institution of the Blind, which the braille committee belongs to. Before proceeding further with planning the event we would like to ask for your opinion on possible dates for the Nordic meeting. We suggest the following three options: 28th-29th of September 5th-6th of October 25th-26th of October The last suggestion would place the meeting on Wednesday to Thursday as we would then organise it parallel to Positive Looking Conf-Shop, a combination of a conference and workshop about the Positive Looking Visual Skills Programme. It is a joint endeavour between Iceland, UK and the US. Here is a link for those that might be interested; Iceland 2023 Positive Looking International Conf-Shop <https://positiveeye.co.uk/our-products/positive-looking-international-conf- shop/> We would kindly ask you to give us an answer on which dates you might prefer no later than 21st of April. Dear Hjalti Hynninenn and all. I hope you have all had a pleasant summer break? Before booking flights and accommodation I just want to be certain about the dates. Is the plan still that the Nordic Braille meeting will take place from 25th October (When do we start?) program ending on the 26th of October at what time? How long is the airport from the Venue? When do you need submissions for the agenda to be handed in? Dear colleges Thank you for your responses. Based on the answers we are moving forward to plan the Nordic meeting to take place 25th-26th of October. We are looking forward to hosting those that wish to attend in person in Reykjavik, but as discussed in Oslo last year it will also be possible to take part in the meeting remotely. Sweden has suggested a few topics for the meeting, and we would welcome you all to participate to shape the program. Also feel free to take the lead on presentation of particular subjects if you wish. Subject ideas so far: - Creation of enhanced eight dot braille system - Braille and mathematics: development and plans. - Haptic tablet development: EU project ABILITY - Updating braille tablets on digital platforms. Exchange best practices. We will be sending more practical information later, but here are a few key details. Do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
